Ok Family – So here is where we’ll start blogging on what we’re experiencing during our time together. I’m excited about doing this with you all again and taking it to another level with the Bible reading. I can’t wait to start hearing and seeing how this time is going to leave lasting impacts.
So the first full Day ! We went shopping during the weekend and stocked the house full of Daniel Fast approved stuff.. There are still some cookies and stuff laying around the cabinets that will have to be ignored for now. We planned out the meals for the first week. There’s 9 of us in our house so we have to try to plan things like this or it will never work. Good Tip: PLAN… For the first week we have some dinners planned like, homemade veggie pizza on wheat dough, avocado and vegetable wraps, and whole wheat pasta and green beans. A Wok is the best thing to use for these meals because you can just throw some veggies into it and stir fry them fast, quick and in a hurry.
So start planning – start reading – start blogging and get ready for what’s in store…

So for lunch — We had some left over garbanzo beans – took some avocado and the beans and threw it into a whole wheat pita pocket… DELICIOUS… Also caught up on the reading – don’t forget and try not to fall too far behind.. Michelle and I found that the daily reading takes about 10 mins… Really no excuses… then had some orange slices and some cranberries as a snack… AMEN WE CAN DO THIS!!!
Had some whole wheat bread toasted with lettuce, tomatoes and onions, not to bad lol. Trying not to listen to music but my co-workers are blasting it all day. I do feel more peaceful and less quick to yell at someone. Thx God
Val
Had some oatmeal (made with vanilla flavored soy milk) and a slice of whole wheat toast with soy butter for breakfast – it was pretty good. Had a PB&J Sandwhich for lunch with organic Jelly and Natural PB. Snacked on raw cashews too. I’m not sure about dinner yet. I have to see what I come up with… So far so good. The hardest part was coming in from the COLD and not being able to have a hot cup of coffee but the oatmeal was comforting.

Ok, The first day was hard. I was hungry & SOOOO TIRED!!! For how I run around everyday the caffine was what gave me fuel to move. So that first day by 5 I was shot so by the time I took my son to karate & ate I went to bed @ 9:30. I have not done that since grammer school. But I love challenges & reading scriptures with wifee & kids. Oh & I just have to say I WOULD NOT DO THIS WITHOUT MY AMAZING AWESOME WIFE!!! She plans out & prepares everything that I eat. Thank You GOD.
Yesterday was just fine for me. I ate all my veggies, fruit and MUCHO water. But today, AYE – my head is gonna bust and I know that this too shall pass. I am SO EXCITED.
On the first day for dinner my sister in-law and I had a great dinner( Whole wheat pasta,Organic sauce and green salad).
Last night I had a headache but, i already know that this headache will last for a few days. Same thing happened to me last year. I am sooooo excited and anxious to see the LORD’S outcome of this fast. Bring on the headaches!!!!!
Yesterday too was good for me.BUT Today! I have a headache and I am going thru a candy withdrawal. But I know GOD is going to do something awesome. ;0)
Last night my wife & I were STARVING! She made some whole wheat pasta with approved meatballs (sorry shes the one that takes care of foof so I have no idea what kind of meatballs). It was reall good & satisfying. She even packed the left overs for me to have for lunch today. Anyways because I started DETOXING 2 weeks ago from coffee the headachs & sluggish has not been there BUT I find myself more exhausted than ever @ the end of the day
For Sunday lunch I ate enough food not to have to cook anything for dinner.
On Monday I started out with grits. I love grits with organic butter and kosher salt. To go with the grits I had a hot cup of water and threw some lemon slices in it.
For lunch I had this whole wheat bread I purchased in stop and shop. It is made by Arnold and it is called sandwich thins. It looks like a big cookie. I toasted it and filled it with organic lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, black olives and pepperoncini. I seasoned it with olive oil and kosher salt. It was better than the subway veggies sandwiches. Jennifer and I loved it!!!
For dinner, I made heated some taco shells–filled it with avocado, cilantro, organic salsa sauce, lettuce and tomatoes. It was different but it was good.
Today, for dinner I will be making boiled green bananas, butternut squash, pumpkin and sweet potatoes with eggplant sautéed in olive oil and garlic.
After detoxing from the caffeine during last year’s fast I decided to drink decaf coffee and I thank God I am not experiencing any headaches.
So far, I am really enjoying this fast. I am feeling guilty because I feel it is not much of a sacrifice. I know a week from now I will feel differently.
I’m coming to your house for a meal. Your meals sound wonderful and so tasty. You Go Girl.
On the first day I had a wonderful dinner that my sister in law prepared for us. Today on the third day with the things I am going thru in my life God has bless me with the courage. I know that I am going to make it all the way.
Hi family, so I haven’t been fasting food but I decided to fast something else instead. I’ve been reading my word daily and I am loving it. The food you guys are eating sounds YUMMY!! I am going to share them with my mom who is also doing the Daniel fast. Better days to come ya’ll – stick it out…!
The first day I had to get Imani off the floor, I made whole wheat pasta with mixed vegetables. Water, water and more water. Imani is still on the floor.
LOL!!! I love Imani!
Day 5 and going strong. Lettuce, artichokes & chick peas, Oh My!
Reading the word at work. Love this passage – Isaiah 58:6-8
6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
Sup brethren! I love reading errrybodies comments. You are some creative people!
So, being that my ususal diet consists of chinese food and pizza unless somebody else is cooking, this fast has been a cinch! (Sorry guys, :p LoL)
I’m not following the fast as strict as I did last year because of the cost and what not, but I’m def keeping away from things I love, like soda and hot chocolate and 8 cups of coffee! Haha, like I need it right.
But I’ve also decided to not watch any movies, unless its a teaching or ol’ school Bible flick, lol. But the thing that’s been the most difficult for me has been facebook! Ugghhh. I haven’t logged in since Sunday night and lemme tell you, I am ITCHING to update! LoL. No joke, FB had me caught up.
Anywhoo, just sharing.
Luv u guys! Grace, Peace and chuleta grease! Wait, no, that’s not right… Here: Grace, Peace and Squash/Zuccinii! Holla!
Hi family, I found a tasty dinner that I like to share with you, I bought from Pathmark morning star farms asian veggie patties, microwave on both sides one min. each. I spread all natural hmmus forty spices on top of it, with spinach and tomotoes rolled up on spianch with garlic and pesto wraps, burrito size. Later, I had a 1/2 pomgerante fruit with 100% cranberry wild berry juice. I am excited!
I feel so alive lately with a new song in my heart, love for others, and a unspeakable joy to wake up with the Lord on my mind. I think of HIm when I wake up, and I fall asleep praying for all of you. God bless!
WOW – I’m almost thru my first week and continue Praising HIM. My fourth day was really bad – so bad that I had to take migraine meds. I’m striving and will continue inventing goodies to fill me the right way. I have a new song in my heart and am so excited. GOD BLESS
My fasting is still going good. I made some brown fried rice with broccoli last night and it was pretty good. Even Jair and Jaya ate some of it.
My reading is all up to date. Robert and I take turns reading and it is definitely bringing us closer together. After I am done reading for the night I am left thirsting for more. I wake up in really good spirits and before I begin my day I am spending some more time with our wonderful loving father!!!! At times it feels like I am not even at work or home. I feels like it is too good to be true that I am in the same work place and house I was just in last week. God you are awesome and I thank you for the difference you are making in my life!
Listen, just wanted to share the Kashi brand has like a granola cereal called Go Lean Crunch…okay be blessed enjoy your day…
Hey family! My parents and I are on our second week–yes!!! My mother has had some serious digestive problems and she feels rested and “regular.” Today I went for brown rice and broccoli with garlic sauce, banana and water. Yesterday right after church I consumed two veggie burgers cooked in olive oil and even heated the wheat hamburger buns on the skillet. I also chopped up some red onions and put some thick and chucky spaghetti sause in it rather than ketchup. What’s next will be something with eggplant..but it’s not so much the food..it’s knowing that the toxins are LEAVING!
by the way…a good morning boost for me is sliced strawberries, Vanilla soy or Almond organic soy milk, bananas in the blender..add some powedered protein and even peanut butter if you want!
Luv Sally…shalom beloved!
hi, family
i can believe the first week went so fast! The word is so awesome!!! my family and me are holding strong. thanks for the daily support. thank you Jesus
Apples and peanut butter – such a good snake – que bueno!
Oops – that was not a good SNAKE it was a good SNACK – sorry
So glad to be in week 2… week 1 was horrible for me!!! I even had “morning sickness” – mostly in the evening. Headaches and hunger pain like nobody’s business. I drove my husband crazy. He threatened to throw a cheeseburger at me a few times… lol This week I feel better physically.
Emotionally on the other hand I’m feeling a bit down. A close friend lost her mom at a young age yesterday to cancer. That really has me feeling down. I have to say though that the closeness I feel to God just from the fast and reading the word really makes me feel comforted even during this time of mourning.
I want to ask my TSF Family to pray for my friend, Lori and her family during this difficult time.
Stay Encouraged! Love you all!
Stacey
Good morning family!
As far as the fasting goes, week one was bad for me too. However, as far as the reading and prayer, God is awesome. God does answer prayers. My dad came out of the hospital on Saturday after the cardiac catheterization and stent was put in! My son continues to do his daily reading. That in itself is a blessing. I’ve been praying for people I’ve never prayed for before.
And just like Stacey, please keep my dear friend, Carolina in your prayers. Her cousin died on Sunday evening. She was only 54 years old and had a heart attack. Pray for her family and for the two small boys she adopted as this family trys to figure out where the boys are going to be placed. It’s heart wrenching to see.
Another great thing God has done, my friend and her sister weren’t speaking to each other for almost 3 years. Mind you they live in the same house! I’ve been praying for them for years and during this time of fasting and prayer, I brought them up to the Lord so that they may start communicating again. I spoke w/ my friend on Sunday and they have made up.
Ain’t God awesome!!!!
This week my fasting is going so much better. I’ve been packing my own breakfast and lunch. I park my car by the train station and sit there for 30 minutes and just pray for everyone I know.
Stay strong family. We can do this! Just a little over a week and a half more to go and the rewards are limitless.
Hey Sisters (Stacy & Sorita),
I have already lifted Lori, Carolina and their family in prayers. Remember the enemy is angry b/c he knows the sacrifice we are doing for our heavenly father. He is going to try to confuse our minds but we all know HE IS A LIAR!!!!!!
Stay strong and focused.
PRAISE THE LORD FOR HE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!
LOVE YOU JESUS
Hello my TSF familia – I have to confess I was really worried about going into this fast becuase I never done anything like this before & I wasnt sure If I was going to make it. my first week was horrible. I was so weak & TIRED & my brain was at a fog. The 2nd week, well you dont even want know…. now going into the 3rd week I feel really-really good. I cant believe all the junk I used to eat and Im really enjoying the healthy diet so much that I’m choosing to keep these healthy eating habits to support the fasted lifestyle on a regular basis. I always had problems w/fasting & wasnt consistent with it but Im asking the Lord for more grace to make fasting as a good spiritual discipline and enjoyable, if there is such a thing. I would have to say that this has been the most enjoyable fast ever. A 40 day fast doesnt sound so intimidating to me anymore. Thank you Lord!
